About the role


We are looking for a Technical Manager to ensure that all technical standards and activities at Pieminister comply with or exceed the relevant guidelines and food safety legislation, managing improvement in pursuit of best practice. You will report directly to our Head of Manufacturing and will lead on all technical aspects of our production environment including advisory responsibility for all channels. Applicants for this role may be Quality Managers who are looking for their next career step, or experienced Technical Managers looking to take on the challenge of a high risk RTE environment. Flexible hours available - the role is suitable for those seeking a 30 hour 4-day week. We are open to different working patterns and applicants are encouraged to apply and discuss at interview.


Responsibilities

  • Support maintenance of BRCGS Certification, as well as ensuring AOECS and SALSA audits are successful
  • Overall management of the Technical department, leading by example to cultivate a pro-active, productive & accountable team, taking responsibility for their training & development
  • Overall responsibility for ensuring compliance with the QMS
  • Through your team arrange microbiological sampling, evaluating results and determining corrective actions
  • Ensure customer standards are met, including carrying-out gap analysis for any new customer standards
  • Arrange and oversee supplier audits in line with the QMS, risk assessments and quality/complaint data
  • Conduct internal audits in line with the schedule set out in the QMS
  • Ensure that Root Cause Analysis is applied to applicable non-conformances
  • Provide technical support to all areas of the business including Sales, Marketing, and our restaurants
  • Continuous improvement by evaluating position of department and factory in respect to key goals and work plans, and prioritise efforts to make the changes necessary to deliver maximum benefit to the business
  • Lead HACCP team, ensuring continuous improvement on the current HACCP plan
  • Ensure that staff are trained to suitable standards in Food Hygiene, Quality and HACCP
  • Working collaboratively within the business to help Pieminister achieve our Pies, Planet, People Commitments


About you

A Technical / Quality Assurance lead, ideally with a background in high risk food manufacturing environments. Passionate about food safety standards, with a desire to lead and develop a highly engaged QA team. You will have a continuous improvement mindset and structured approach to the implementation of best practices.

  • Salary of £53,000 - £55,000 pro rata with up to 20% of annual salary in bonuses
